  1. Connect Your Fear to Your Higher Purpose

Fear is a signal to pay attention and protect against overreaching. Reframe fear against your higher purpose, making it a tool for growth. Example: Overcoming fear of hospitals by aligning it with the higher purpose of becoming a mother. Activity: Identify your ultimate purpose and reframe fears to align with it.

  1. See Life as Challenging, Not Threatening

Perception of events determines whether they feel challenging or threatening. Challenges energize growth, while threats engage fight or flight responses. Distinguish between immediate threats and challenges in life. Activity: Identify a present-day fear and determine if it's an immediate threat or a challenge.

  1. Take Your Own Advice About Confronting Fears

Recall advice given to children facing fears, apply the same wisdom to yourself. Reflect on the encouragement you'd give to overcome challenges. Activity: Provide advice to imaginary scenarios, such as facing a tough class or handling failure.

  1. Frame Your Fears as Excitement, Not Anxiety

Fear is high arousal; reframing it as excitement changes the interpretation. Saying "I'm excited" shifts the mindset to an opportunity perspective. Research on stress and arousal supports the effectiveness of framing fears positively. Action: Replace anxiety with "I'm excited" to cultivate a positive interpretation.

Time is fear's favorite food; delaying actions prolongs fear. Eliminate procrastination by committing to immediate action. Volunteer to go first, reducing the consumption of time by fear. Ideas: Avoid procrastination, commit to daily challenges, encourage children to share daily fears.
